About

Hello – We are George and Cecilia Holland and we would like to welcome you to the Logan Turnpike Mill. We purchased the mill in 1986 from George and Becky Rogers. Their love of antique mills and fresh ground grains we found irresistible. The Rogers used to go around to country fairs demonstrating corn grinding. We carried on the tradition and began to expand the country fair circuit to let folks know of the good nutrition and wonderful taste of freshly ground grains. We have an antique Williams grist mill circa 1916 and a 1926 Fairbanks Morse hit-n-miss engine mounted on a buckboard wagon with iron wheels. People were delighted that freshly ground grains could taste so good and old engines could be so loud! Through the years we have been contracting with local farmers to grow our corn. The hot summer here in Georgia really sets the flavor. Our wheat comes from Montana where the cold climate and soil produce a high protein grain. Our rye comes from the Midwest and our buckwheat comes from up-state New York. Our company is still a family run business. We have grown steadily through the years and are now in our second location. People who saw us at country fairs wanted to visit the mill and see it operate. Our original location (the old Logan turnpike toll road) was difficult to find on a good day. We bought an old homestead on the banks of the scenic Nottely River on 19/129 south of Blairsville. We opened our mill/store to the public in 1995. The demand for our products increased and our mail order business grew. Our customers then asked us to expand to the Internet so they could order online.

HERE WE GROW AGAIN!
